Family Support Groups In West Lothian
We run fortnightly Family Support Groups for Home-Start families in four areas across West Lothian: Blackburn, Fauldhouse, Ladywell and Craigshill.
The purpose of the Family Support Groups is to bring local families together, to share their own experiences, to support each other and make friends as well as engage in different activities.
Our Group Workers offer a fun and interesting programme of activities. They invite local agencies along to cover topics such as Positive Parenting, Safety in the Home, Healthy Eating, and Home Energy as well as supporting parents and their children to have fun out and about in West Lothian enjoying soft play, visiting local Parks, and Mill Farm.
We have also began running family activities during the school holidays. During those sessions we schedule activities which are suitable for children of all ages e.g. picnic in the park, trips to the National Museum of Scotland, gardening and Easter egg hunt!
Over the years we have also established our in house groups. This programme is aimed at targeting families who require more focused work with their children and families who’s support will soon come to an end with Home-start.
Funding from BBC Children in Need, Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland and Souter Trust means currently we are able to provide transport to allow families to attend, as well as lunches/snacks at each meeting, and provide a Creche facility.
