Meet the Team – Aimee
I am Aimee Brown I have been a home visiting volunteer with HSWL for almost 4 years now. My time at home start I have worked alongside families who need emotional support for the mum, giving them guidance to help them along the way, and giving them praise on what they are doing. If I am not sure how to support a family I will seek this from my Family Support Coordinator or other agencies. One of my parents was looking for a driving instructor to I was able to tell her about which ones were available in West Lothian. Another parent was struggling with behaviour and I was able to give her support around some methods we used in the nursery, I also printed her off some stickers charts etc. Sometimes I’m just someone who will listen to them and give advice always keeping my own options separate and giving them the best support for their own situation. When I’m not volunteering I love spending time with my family and friends, the people closest to me mean the world to me. I like to cook as I am a bit of a foodie, I like trying new restaurants. I like watching movies at home and cinema. I like walking and going to the gym. My background is working with children but I now work with adults with autism which I love. I enjoy being a volunteer with Home-Start West Lothian because I like helping people and if I only help at least one person I know I am doing something right.
