Lisa’s Blog – Family Referrals
Lisa Stark is one of our Family Support Coordinators and in this blog she describes how easy it is to get the specialist help that Home-Start West Lothian offers and what happens next.
Home-Start West Lothian is a volunteer befriending service which supports families all over West Lothian and from all different walks of life. There are 2 simple ways to refer to our service. The first is through a practitioner from health, such as your health visitor or CPN or from social services or any other profession that you are engaging with. The only criteria that we have is that you have 1 child under the age of 5 years old.
A referral form can be sourced by calling us on 01506 415755 during office hours, by emailing admin@homestartwl.gov.uk or from the link on our website.
The completed form will then be passed on to one of our family support coordinators who will contact you as soon as possible to assess your needs and discuss any support that we are able to provide. The second method is to self refer. This can be done by contacting us on the above number or email address and a family support coordinator will contact you directly to complete the form and carry out an assessment for support.
Support is provided from our wonderful team in the form of volunteer befriending and a robust group work programme. If you or anyone you know has a child under the age of 5 and are experiencing difficulties including poor mental or physical health, isolation, multiple births, bereavement, disability, illness or other then please do not hesitate to contact us for support.
We are here to help, so get in touch even if it’s just for a chat to see what Home-Start West Lothian offers and how we can help.
Take care, Lisa
