Go easy on yourself.
Group Worker Emily blogs how we should take this lockdown day by day.
Whatever your circumstances right now, this situation is tough. We talked a few months ago about how we are not in the same boat, but are riding the same wave; each of us experiencing it slightly differently.
Something that;s come to our attention this time round is the sheer amount of information out there, we’re being flooded with steps to take to feel better and methods to use to benefit our mental health and look after our wellbeing. There’s so much information out there that it’s hard not to feel pressure to do it all. It’s easy to feel like if we’re not meditating for 2 hours every day and drinking cleansing green juices that we’re failing.
We’d like to take today’s blog to remind you all that it’s ok to just be doing enough to get by, to cope day to day. We take our hat off to the people who are thriving and living their best lockdown life but that’s not realistic for everyone and sometimes we need to take a step back and realise that being on your A game all of the time isn’t always possible.
We urge you to perhaps have one daily task (like a 5 minute meditation or a daily walk or our online yoga sessions) that clears your mind and makes you feel less anxious and more settled.
And finally, we’d like to give you all a reminder to go easy on yourself. These are challenging times which can be made that little bit more manageable when we are kind to ourselves.”
